The Chief Administrative Office records contain six series of records from 1950 to 2000, including subject files, capital project files, economic statistics for the city, records of the Federal Program Division, office Scrapbooks, and public relations photographs.

District system pre-dates consolidated fire record books in the 1960s.

Scope and Contents The records are manuscript monthly reports submitted by the Assistant Engineer of each fire district and bound into large ledgers arranged by month and, thereunder, by district. The volume covering the years 1924-1926 were missing at the time of transfer from the New Orleans Fire Department.The format of the ledger pages changed remarkably little during the 76 years covered by the reports. Description

These records were transfered to the Archives in November, 1985, by Captain Richard Blackmon of the Public Information Office. While the records appear to have been kept by different divisions of the Department, they have been arranged here as a single series, due both to the fact that individual series would be quite small and standard records management practices.
