The Almonaster-Michoud Industrial District (AMID) was created in 1979 by the Louisiana Legislature as an industrial park to attract business and industry into the City of New Orleans. AMID is governed by a Board of Commissioners appointed by the Mayor from nominees submitted by civil and political entities.
