Arranged by dates suits were filed, giving name of court, docket number of suit, name of the party opposing the City of New Orleans (either as plaintiff or defendant), brief description of the suit and of the various actions taking place, and the disposition of the matter. Volume two (1856- 1862) has more complete records than does the first volume. There is at least one suit at the end of the second volume from the Confederate States of America District Court.
