Scope and Contents
The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans Photograph Collection contains about 200 images of various drainage projects around the City. Most images rage from the 1930s to the 1950s. This digital collection offers a sample of 40 photographs. Major projects depicted here include the draining of Bayou St. John for the constuction of a water main, movement of a major water main across the Industrial Canal, residential and city street drainage work, and images of the Water Tratment Plant. Additional photos are available to view in the City Archvies & Special Collections by appointment.
