"Albert Baldwin Wood: The Man Who Made Water Run Uphill", 1959
Scope and Contents
Albert Baldwin Wood was an engineer responsible for designing the pumps that continue to make drainage in New Orleans possible. This booklet chronicles the City's early need for more powerful drainage, Wood's work with the Sewerage and Water Board, and the ground-breaking introduction of the Wood pumps to the New Orleans drainage system. When these powerful pumps were installed in 1928, they were considered the largest and most powerful pumps in the world.
