Contains records related to public utilities in the city of New Orleans, including some records by the New Orleans Public Service Inc. (NOPSI), the Taxicab Bureau, Office of Telecommunications, and administrators. The records include subject files, project files, plans, correspondence between various departments, and volumes of bills, ledgers, and complaints.

Financial documents, reports, and other records from various public/private entities that were responsible for water management and drainage. These include the Board of Drainage Commissioners, the City Water Works, and the New Orleans Waterworks Company.

Scope and Contents The majority of records for the Sewerage and Water Board are water connection records, known as "water books." These records are very helpful to researchers conducting property research. If your building dates from the period ca. 1907-1960, this series of records could provide you with a very close approximation of the date of construction since the original water and sewer connections would have been made while the structure was going up.
