Biographical / Historical

Jacquelyn Brechtel Clarkson was elected to the Council District C seat in 1990 and served until 1994, when she lost the seat to Troy Carter. She was re-elected to District C in 2002. In 2006, she sought election as an At-Large candidate, but was narrowly defeated by Arnold Fielkow. In 2007, she ran successfully for the At-Large seat in a special election following the resignation of Councilmember Oliver Thomas. She was re-elected to this seat for a full four-year term in 2010.

Jackie Clarkson was born in New Orleans in 1935 and attended Tulane University. Prior to holding pubic office, Clarkson was active in the business community as a realtor. In 1995, following her first Council District C term, she was elected to two terms in the Louisiana House of Representatives (District 102).
