Biographical / Historical

Journalist and city official. Dixon served as editor of the West Side News and the Algiers Herald, and wrote many articles for the Roosevelt Review, the house journal of the Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans. In 1947 he entered city government with the New Orleans Recreation Department. He later served as an Executive Assistant to Mayor deLesseps S. Morrison, as the city's Director of Public Relations, and as Director of the Municipal Auditorium. Following his retirement in 1977, Dixon returned to an early interest in compiling and publishing books on the history of Algiers.
