Jefferson City records
Collection contains the records of Jefferson City, a suburb of New Orleans, from the founding in 1850 until it was annexed by New Orleans in 1870. Includes the records of the council, the mayor, police, courts, assessors, and register of births and deaths, among other records. Records are arranged into series based on city department or official.

This series includes correspondence between the Mayor and the Council and with other government entities, officials, as well as constituents. Additionally, the series contains licenses and permits issued to merchants and businesses, especially bakeries. The register of Free People of Color mandated by the Louisiana State legislature, in addition to other records tracking and monitoring enslaved people and people of color are in this series.

Records of the Commisarries and City Guard. Includes arrest records of enslaved people, soldiers, and sailors; an early census of the 2nd District of the City; and reports of the Captain of the Guard.
Third Municipality Guard, 1836-1852
Manuscript volumes, in French until July, 1840, with the remaining in English. The reports are divided into two subseries: volumes maintained in the Mayor's Office and those maintained in the Recorder's Office. They include records of arrest and reports of guard members regarding their job performance. Also included in this series is the beat book, containing the daily list of officers and their assigned beats.
