Biography

Delgado Central Trades School opened in 1921, functioning as what would now be considered a vocational high school.

Between 1958 and 1960 it changed names to Delgado Trades and Technical Institute, and functioned as a two-year techincal college.

In 1966 the school became Isaac Delgado College and later Delgado Vocational-Technical Junior College.

In 1970 Delgado transferred from the City of New Orleans to the Louisiana State Board of Education.

In 1980 the college adopted is current namne: Delgado Community College.
