Biographical / Historical

The Office of Tourism, Arts and Entertainment was charged with maximizing the city's potential to realize revenues and attract investment by the tourism, arts, and entertainment industries. To achieve that goal the Office developed marketing strategies and promotional materials effective in attracting attention from the global marketplace. It also developed showcase opportunities to support the city's tourism efforts, worked to enhance the infrastructure of the target industries, and contributed to the evolution of New Orleans as an entertainment center. The Office also worked closely with two independent commissions--the New Orleans Film and Video Commission and the Music and Entertainment Commission of New Orleans--as well as with the New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corporation.
