Scope and Contents

From the Series:

The records include general subject files and correspondence, but consist primarily of office files containing the Vieux Carre Commission's recommendations to the City Council regarding the granting of non-conforming zoning use for various Vieux Carre properties, the granting of alcoholic beverage permits, etc. Copies of the ordinance granting the Commission's recommendations are usually included in the files. Folders labeled by street name may contain recommendations or ordinances for multiple addresses. Researchers investigating a particular address should consult the "General" note section of the inventory for a list of the addresses contained in each folder (note that this list is not necessarily complete.)
