Church parish registers, usually containing baptisms, marriages, and funerals, are available for the following towns and cities. If only one type of record is recorded, the entry below is marked (B) for baptisms or (M) for marriages. In some cases, two or more churches are represented for the same locality. Registers from former French possessions in the United States occasionally cover dates into the 19th century. For specific dates of coverage, check the labels on the film boxes.

Hotel Dieu Hospital records
The registers include some or all of the following information: name, place of birth, “reference” (often an address, or name, presumably, of the person to be contacted), dates of admission and discharge, date of death (if appropriate), and diagnosis. A partial index (letters K-W) is filmed at the front of the volume. Ante-bellum records include entries for enslaved people.

New Orleans Passenger lists
Manuscript lists of passengers arriving at the port of New Orleans during April and May of 1851. Other copies of most of these lists exist in the passenger list records filmed by the National Archives. Lists for two vessels are not included on those microfilms: Schooner Union, from San Juan de Nicaragua (April 20, 1851) and Bark Cora, from Richmond (May 9, 1851).
