This collection contains subject files that span Hazuer-Distance's full time in office, 1994-2000. Areas of interest include the redevelopment of Lincoln Beach, the planning of Jazzland themepark, and various constituent concerns from communities in New Orleans East and along the Irish Bayou. There is particular attention paid to local neighborhood associations.

The Chief Administrative Office records contain six series of records from 1950 to 2000, including subject files, capital project files, economic statistics for the city, records of the Federal Program Division, office Scrapbooks, and public relations photographs.

Mayor Marc H. Morial records
The City Archives received approximately 700 cu. ft. of records during the last days of the Marc H. Morial administration. Included were records of the various divisions within the Mayor's Office along with records of the Chief Administrative Office and records of the Finance, Health, Property Management, Police, and Parkways Departments. Records for agencies outside of the Mayor's Office are described separately.

Mayor Victor H. Schiro records
The records include correspondence/subject files from Schiro's tenure as Councilman, as well as his terms as Mayor (the 1961 files contain both mayoral and councilmanic papers). Also included is a series of records from the Mayor's Public Relations Office, 1957-1970 (extending slightly into the tenure of Schiro's successor, Moon Landrieu).

Subject Files
A former superintendent of the New Orleans Police Department (1960-1975), Chief Giarrusso's interest in the NOPD and in law enforcement continued through his years on the Council, an interest that is reflected in these records. Other issues that are particularly well represented relate to public utilities policy and regulation, gambling and the city's proposed land-based casino, and anti-smoking legislation, for which the Chief acted as one of New Orleans' strongest advocates.
Subject Files
Records include files on city-owned property leased for private use, subject, and reading files. The property files include photographs, the lease agreement, and other relevant material.
Subject Files, 1956-1961
The subject files consist mostly of correspondence and reports, both from internal departments, constiuents, corporations, and other government bodies. Most concern city affairs and economic development.
Subject files, 1955-1971
The subject files series includes reading files and records gathered by the CAO office related to city projects and issues.
