The records include subject files, accountants' reports, and sound recordings. Some, but not all, files were weeded to remove most photocopies of local newspaper articles.
Commission Council's Special Citizens Investigating Committee records
Contains information/data gathered about illegal bars, casinos, and other illegal vice activities. The files also include investigations into police misconduct.

Councilmember James Fitzmorris District C records
This collection includes subject files from Fitzmorris' time as District C representative. Major areas of interest include records regarding the Police and Fire Committee, Streets Department, Sewerage and Water Board, and Traffic Safety. In addition to his municipal records, some of the councilmember's personal papers were transferred to the City Archvies as well and are included in this collection.
Councilmember Joseph Giarrusso At-Large Records
A former superintendent of the New Orleans Police Department (1960-1975), Chief Giarrusso's interest in the NOPD and in law enforcement continued through his years on the Council, an interest that is reflected in these records. Other issues that are particularly well represented relate to public utilities policy and regulation, gambling and the city's proposed land-based casino, and anti-smoking legislation, for which the Chief acted as one of New Orleans' strongest advocates.

Mayor Marc H. Morial records
The City Archives received approximately 700 cu. ft. of records during the last days of the Marc H. Morial administration. Included were records of the various divisions within the Mayor's Office along with records of the Chief Administrative Office and records of the Finance, Health, Property Management, Police, and Parkways Departments. Records for agencies outside of the Mayor's Office are described separately.

Mayor Victor H. Schiro records
The records include correspondence/subject files from Schiro's tenure as Councilman, as well as his terms as Mayor (the 1961 files contain both mayoral and councilmanic papers). Also included is a series of records from the Mayor's Public Relations Office, 1957-1970 (extending slightly into the tenure of Schiro's successor, Moon Landrieu).
